Leather Binding
Case bindings can also be covered with leather. The process remains the same as a standard case binding in the sense that a sewn text block –usually in sections, will be cased inside the cover. However, the work onto the cover is more complex. The leather around the corners and the headcaps areas needs to be pared. Then, the inner cover will be filled with a piece of card so it heavens it out to the same thickness as the leather turned in. We recommend using decorative endpapers to case the book inside the leather cover giving a beautiful effect when opening it. Finishing (foiling, debossing, tooling, etc) can be added to the cover.
